Walking simulators, at least to me, have some kind of mystery to discover. The story is good, but kind of fails to live up at the end. But supply boxes and the area around your fire tower become familiar it isn't that bad. The map can get confusing as it appears to be an open world with no HUD. I don't know if that was due to them not having the team big enough to make woodland critters or a style choice but it does work. The forest looks great and feels empty, including animal life except for some story/achievement related ones. You never actually see any character except for some silhouettes and never even see Delilah. There is some choose your own dialogue stuff but nothing that I think seriously changes the game. Their relationship and what you make of it is great. They do a fantastic job and have great chemistry. These are the only two voices you will hear in the game, mostly. Henry is alone in the woods and his only point of contact is Delilah(played by Cissy Jones). That is where we start to do the actual walking. In my turn of events Julia ends up back in Australia with her family and Henry runs away in the woods to be a fire watcher. A particularly sad line was when Henry had to tell her their dog, I picked Bucket a Beagle, passed away and Julia had no idea who or what Bucket was. Julia has early onset dementia, she is losing her mind. It starts out sweet, the beginning of a love story, before turning into a sad tale of love and loss. It isn't narrated just white text and occasionally a choice for you to make. The game starts with some text about how Henry(played by Rich Sommer) met his wife, Julia. The only thing going in was I knew it was a walking simulator, a.k.a first person not much gameplay, lots of story and atmosphere, and I've gotten into those games the past few years and heard good things. Firewatch is a 2016 walking simulator made by Camp Santo before they were acquired by Valve. I finally got around to Firewatch and right off the bat this game was a kick in the teeth. Some of the transitions in the film could also show how his marriage became more and more disturbed by his wife’s illness which led to his temporary departure. If he’s talking about his wife back home that drifts along with the blowing trees below or discovering mysteriously placed items that shake the nerves, the audience should seamlessly be able to feel the same emotional highs and lows as Henry. For the sake of story levity, Snoot should really focus on a balance between these two features so that one can be exchanged with the other when needed. Underneath the safe harbor of your watchtower, the plot quickly dissolves into a varied state of paranoia by introducing stress-inducing events. At first, the intoxicating and natural environment of Firewatch trances the player into believing this will be a peaceful experience.
